"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day-and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7,8. If ever there was a Christ-like person, it was Scott Gwin"¦ He was a true example of what God desired his children to be. No one could meet him without being blessed. His positive and joyous spirit will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He gave himself completely to anyone and anything that needed him: the beggar on the street, the family member in trouble, the crisis at the office. There was no end to his forgiveness, and not only did he forgive, but he truly forgot. Scott was a true gentleman, ever opening doors; standing when anyone left the table; walking on the car-side of the sidewalk to shield his family from the passing traffic; and always putting anyone else's needs above his own. He never would have chosen to go and leave us; as a gentleman never willingly departs until everyone else is accounted for. Scott was greatly loved and respected as he worked tirelessly at ExxonMobil for 39 years. He had the fortune of retiring in October; and was blessed with a short but full period of true relaxation and happiness with his family. All who knew him knew that his favorite things were running with his son, dancing with his daughters, singing good-morning songs, playing golf, talking and texting with his family at all times of the day, and cheering on his Tigers. A Baton Rouge native, Scott graduated from Catholic High School in 1970 and LSU School of Engineering in 1974. He loved his family more than life itself, and we felt this every minute of every day. While he has left behind his wife, best-friend and soul-mate of 36 years Kathy Sandifer Gwin; his adored son Taylor and wife Lauren; his three loving daughters Ashley, Courtney, and Piper Leigh; his mother Jean Chapman; his brother Fred and wife Debbie; and his sister-in-law Donna; Scott is now reunited with his father Fred A. Gwin, younger brother Richard, step-father JB Chapman and of course his Lord and Savior. Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 PM Wednesday at Rabenhorst East funeral home, 11000 Florida Boulevard and again at 10 AM Thursday at The Chapel on the Campus, 3355 Dalrymple Drive, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A memorial service will follow at 11 AM at The Chapel with the internment at Roselawn Memorial Park. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and condolences; and as Scott would say, "Elvis has left the building."
