
"The earthly journey of Jack L. Brumfield of Baton Rouge ended Sunday afternoon, November 20, 2016, at home. He was in the presence of his family and is now walking with the angels on the Heavenly streets of gold. Jack was born in Baton Rouge April 22, 1934. Funeral services will be at Istrouma Baptist Church on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at 11:00 AM, with visitation from 9:00 AM until service. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. While this life on earth is over, his family and friends celebrate as his glorious new journey in eternity has begun. Jack is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 63 years, Marlene. He is also survived by daughter DiAnne Haddox, husband Kinny of Farmerville; son David Brumfield, wife Janet of Baton Rouge; daughter Nancy Parker, husband Chris of Denham Springs. Grandchildren Adam Haddox and wife Lauren of Baton Rouge; Christopher Brumfield and wife Jessica of Denham Springs; Julie Davis and husband Andy of West Monroe; Sarah Brumfield of Gonzales; Jack Brumfield and wife Sadie of Gonzales; Keri Cannizzaro and husband Louis of Mandeville; and Landon Parker of Baton Rouge. His grandchildren were a great joy of his life as he watched them grow and become loving, caring, serving adults. In turn, his grandchildren grew to respect him, follow his example loved him dearly. He also has eight loving great grandchildren, Addison and Laney Brumfield; Evie and Emma Davis and William, Stewart and Jack Haddox; and Salvatore Cannizzaro. His great grandchildren were also a special joy and comfort to him. His legacy will live on through them. Preceded in death by parents, Albert "A.C." and Alice Brumfield; sister, Melva Cranford; three brothers, A.C., Everett and Amos. The first trip Jack's parents took him on was as a baby to Istrouma Baptist Church. It was a path he followed solidly and without fail throughout his life. Jack gave his life to Jesus when he was nine years old. He spent his life serving others and served in numerous ways in his church, whenever and wherever he was asked. He was a Deacon, Sunday School teacher and served in various committees and groups. He was born on Sunday and passed away on Sunday. He retired from Shell Chemical in Geismar after a long and successful career with the company. Jack's life always focused on serving God and taking care of his family. He served in the U.S. Army in Washington, D.C. He loved the outdoors and fishing was his favorite past time. He enjoyed God's glory many days fishing in the marsh, the Gulf of Mexico, the Atchafalaya Basin, Toledo Bend and Lake D'Arbonne. He also loved to garden, watch things grow and share his bounty with others. He could not wait for special occasions to boil crawfish, make a big gumbo or fry turkeys. He also loved to take photographs of his outdoor adventures. And he never met a project he wasn't willing to tackle. Pall bearers will be grandsons Adam Haddox, Christopher Brumfield, Jack Brumfield, Landon Parker, Andy Davis, Louis Cannizzaro and Nick Parker. The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Istrouma Baptist Church Benevolence Fund.
