Jack Albert “Bert “ Dantin Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away at his home in Baton Rouge, Monday, January 17, after a lengthy battle with both medullary and neuroendocrine cancers. He was surrounded by most of the family he loved so deeply. Born on Oct. 15, 1958, Bert was a 1976 graduate of Baton Rouge High School. He graduated from LSU with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He was employed with Rubicon and Koura for over 30 years, many of those years as a Business Engineering Manager with a spotless record. He exhibited an exemplary work ethic, whether in his career or personal life, and had a long list of projects, intending to fix anything and everything that was broken. Bert and his wife, Cindy, worked tirelessly with Boy Scout Troop 7 at St. Aloysius where his two boys began as Tiger Cubs all the way through their achievements as Eagle Scouts, one of Bert’s proudest moments. Through the years, he handled popcorn sales and raised Scout funds as the “Jambalaya King” with his longtime friend, Roberto Sandoval. He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church for 40 years and served as a faithful usher at 11 a.m. Mass since 1993. Even though Bert was ill, he happily assisted his brother-in-law, Mike Bray, with flood relief across the area in 2016. He had many special gifts and most enjoyed serving others. He blessed numerous family and friends by helping to repair houses, cars, and offered himself in so many ways. He was definitely “a true and faithful servant.” He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Boudreaux Dantin; two sons, Jacob Dantin and his wife Laura, of Aurora, Colorado, and Justin Dantin of Baton Rouge; two grandchildren he adored, Isabel and Jack Dantin of Aurora, Colorado; two sisters, Susan (Dennis) Webb of Ooltewah, TN and Betsy (Mike) Bray of Monument, Colorado, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack Albert Dantin Sr. and Doris Beckley Dantin. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst East Funeral Home, 11000 Florida Blvd. from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 21. Visitation will continue at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2025 Stuart Blvd. on Saturday, Jan. 22 from 8 to 9 a.m. before the Mass at 9 a.m. officiated by Fr.
