

Jacqueline "Jackie" Brown Tandy died peacefully on Sunday, December 7, 2014, at the home of her son surrounded by her family in Baton Rouge, LA at the age of 90. Jackie is survived by her children, Timothy Tandy; Cy Tandy, Jody Tandy and husband Roy Spradlin, Patrick Tandy and partner Brad Harris, and Kelly Tandy and husband Paul Cabiran; grandchildren; Ellen Summey and husband Matthew Summey, David Tandy, Jarrah Horne and husband Tripp Horne, Emily Tandy, and Lydia Tandy; great-grandchildren Cole Summey, Catherine Martinez and Leigh Horne; and siblings, Rhea Gary and Dede Lusk. Jackie was born Sept. 1, 1924 in Baker to Napoleon and Dorothy Corcoran Brown. She graduated from Louisiana State University in 1950 with a degree in Sociology. Jackie served proudly in the US Naval Reserve WAVES in World War II and the Korean Conflict. Her career in social service began at the Louisiana State Hospital Alcoholic Unit, and she later retired from the Louisiana War Veteran's Home in Jackson. Her children remember her as a loving and adventurous mother who encouraged them to pursue their dreams. Jackie had a love of roller skating and was an accomplished tennis player in her youth. She was a generous and charismatic woman who loved fishing and the outdoors. She was very fervent in her faith. Reared as an Episcopalian, Jackie had a spiritual awakening while raising her young family. It influenced her outlook and brought her tremendous joy. Jackie was always a model of graciousness who felt truly grateful for the many blessings in her life. A native of Clinton, she resided in St. Francisville from 1952 until 2002, when she moved to St. James Place, where she lived very happily until her death. The family would like to thank the staff of St. James Place, The Carpenter House and Mark Kantrow, M.D. for the comfort and compassion they provided. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 10, 2014 with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church in St. Francisville. Services will be conducted by Rev. Roman D. Roldan. In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for donations to be made to St. Joseph's Hospice, 10615 Jefferson Hwy., B.R., LA 70809 or St. James Place Foundation at 333 Lee Dr., B.R., LA 70808. Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St. is in charge of arrangements.
