

Jaime Michael Hernandez passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at the age of 50. He was a native of Baton Rouge, LA, and a resident of Saint Francisville, LA. Jaime grew up in Lafayette, LA, attended school, then moved back to Baton Rouge and graduated from Redemptorist High School in 1992. Shortly thereafter, he began pursuing a career in the food industry. He was a Sous Chef with various local restaurants and hotels. His talent and creativity in the culinary industry allowed him to obtain chef positions at numerous restaurants including, Gino’s, Juban’s, The Baton Rouge City Club, Stab’s, and the most recent where he was Executive Chef, The Saint in Saint Francisville. He also owned and operated Jaime’s Creole Brasserie in Brevard, NC. As an exceptional chef with leadership abilities, Jaime was awarded a most prestigious honor, The James Beard Award Best Chefs America. Jamie will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to know him or work with him. Jaime is survived by his daughter, Rylee Marie Hernandez; parents, Chris and Donna Miller; half-brother, Joshua Hernandez; aunt, Marian Baker (Ricky); uncle, Steven Hernandez; previous spouse and Rylee’s mother, Deena Hernandez; and numerous other loving family members and friends. Jaime is preceded in death by his grandparents, Lionel, Sr. and Katherine Hernandez, and Malcolm and Ureline Summers; and half-sister, Tabitha Louise Hernandez. Visitation will be at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11441 Goodwood Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 11am until the Memorial Mass at 1pm.
