James "JD" Brackins passed away at home on Thursday morning, August 7, 2014 in the presence of his wife and family. He was born September 20, 1943 in Thomasville, GA. He retired from Exxon in July of 1999 and spent many happy years fishing from his home in Springfield. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Terri; two daughters, Robin Brackins and Jennifer Miller; one grandson, James LeJeune; two brothers and three sisters, Beth Jones, John Whitehead, Shyrel Ward, Janet Evans and Roy Elkins; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Merle Elkins; father, Douglas Brackins; beloved stepdad, Thomas Elkins; and two brothers, Billy Dean and Tom (Hines) Elkins. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East Chapel, 11000 Florida Blvd, on Friday, August 8, 2014 from 5 pm until 7 pm and resumes on Saturday from 9 am until religious services at 11 am.
