
James Green, 74, a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, died in his sleep on Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, at Sunrise Assisted Living. He battled Alzheimer's for eight years. James was born in Oldham, England, on June 22, 1936, to James and Martha Green. James was an only child. He was a material handling engineer in Baton Rouge. He had three children, Jane Green Pettit and husband Gary Pettit, Mark E. Green and wife Susan Green, and Barbara Ann Green Oliva. James had five granddaughters, Belinda and Victoria Pettit, Peyton and Kerigan Bowman and Megan Oliva. His first great-grandchild, Elizabeth McCarroll, is due March 31, 2011. James was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Green; parents, James and Martha Green; and stepmother, Gertrude Green. Services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 23, at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East at 11000 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with memorial service to follow.
