James A. Jackson Jr.

James Aubrey Jackson, Jr., 82, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 23, 2026. Born on September 15, 1943, in Alexandria, Louisiana, James spent the majority of his life in Baton Rouge, where he was known for his strong work ethic, kind heart, unwavering integrity, and deep devotion to his family and his faith. A proud graduate of Catholic High School in Baton Rouge, Class of 1963, he faithfully lived the values instilled in him throughout his life. James also proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Army. Following his military service, James enjoyed a long and rewarding career as an electrician and was a proud member of IBEW Local 995 until his retirement. He was an active member of the Catholic High School Men’s Club and the Baton Rouge Sertoma Club, where he enjoyed the fellowship of lifelong friends. Whether spending time outdoors with a fishing pole in hand or simply sharing time with those he loved, James found joy in life’s simple blessings. James was preceded in death by his parents, James A. Jackson, Sr., and Aetna Mae O’Quinn McNeely. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving daughters, Traci Lynn Jackson (John Bell) and Jamie Jackson Paddie (Steve Paul Paddie, Jr). He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Cade Matthew Paddie and Talon Michael Paddie, each of whom held a special place in his heart. Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Paul Paddie, Jr., John Bell, Greg A. Smith, Sr., Cade Paddie, Henry Hebert, and Johnny Anderson. Talon Paddie will serve as honorary pallbearer. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home & Crematory East, 11000 Florida Boulevard, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70815, on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A eulogy celebrating James’ life will be shared by his daughter, Jamie Paddie, at 7:30 p.m. during the visitation. A funeral service will begin promptly at Rabenhorst Funeral Home & Crematory East on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Colfax Cemetery on 5th Street in Colfax, Louisiana, at 12:30 p.m. James will be remembered as a man whose quiet strength spoke louder than words, whose faith guided the way he lived, and whose love for his family never wavered. He believed in hard work, treated others with kindness and respect, and found fulfillment in serving his country, providing for his family, and living a life rooted in his Christian faith. His steady presence, humble spirit, and genuine compassion touched the lives of all who knew him. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of love, humility, unwavering character, and enduring faith will continue to live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him.
