
James W. "Jim" Lyon, Jr., native and resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2014 at the age of 84 after a short battle with a glioblastoma. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering fromhttp://www.legacy.com/memorial-sites/lsu/?personid=169881201&affiliateID=1382" id="InlineMicrositeLink_LSU" target="_blank" title="Visit LSU Memorial Site to see similar profiles">Louisiana State University, College of Engineering. He retired from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development as the Materials and Research Engineer. He also retired from the Mississippi Department of Transportation. He was a member of the Baton Rouge Civil War Roundtable, Broadmoor United Methodist Church Methodist Men, American Legion, and Sigma Chi. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy Todd Lyon; and their four children and their families: James L. Lyon and Marcy Lyon; Michael D. Lyon and Sheila Foley Lyon and their daughter, Laurie Lyon; Lisabeth A. "Beth" Roberts and her daughter, Ashley Roberts; Richard C. Lyon and Sharon Barlow Lyon and their children, Karson Lyon andDavis Lyon. He is preceded in death by his parents, James W. Lyon, Sr. and Janice Ewing Lyon, and his son-in-law, Michael L. Roberts. Pallbearers will be the 9:45 am ushers from Broadmoor United Methodist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be the ushers from Broadmoor United Methodist Church.
