James H. Mayes

Mayes, James H.James H. Mayes age 91, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on March 15, 2016. James was a veteran of the U.S. Army, as part of the greatest generation he served his country fighting in WWII with the 101st Airborne. He returned home after the war and attended Texas A&l University where he earned a degree in Chemical Engineering, then attended John Hopkins University, where he earned a Master's Degree and PhD, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He is survived by his wife of 20 years Loraine Skidmore Mayes; step-son and wife, Tim and Renee Skidmore and their five children; step-daughters and husbands, Deborah and Stewart Boaders and their two sons, Tina and Scott Sanford and their two children. He is also survived by his two children Tom Mayes and Linda Mayes, three grandchildren Corey and Karen Mayes and Raiannon Morrison. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Irene Mayes; parents James and Florence (Key) Mayes and brother George Thomas Mayes. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 23rd at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd, from 5 to 7 pm with a memorial service at 6 pm.
