James Carr McAdams

James Carr McAdams, 60, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Baton Rouge General Hospital. James was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, and a graduate of Tara High School and Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. James had a warm smile, a loving heart for others and befriended everyone he met. He was a devoted LSU fan for over 50 years. As a child, he was Spina Bifida March of Dimes Poster Child for both East Baton Rouge Parish and the State of Louisiana and received the American Legion Outstanding Citizenship Award.

James was active in the community as a charter member of the LSU Tiger Gridiron Club and the Baton Rouge Rolling Tigers Wheelchair Basketball Team. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Capitol Area Tigers and as a Big Buddy Program coach. While attending LSU he was student advisor for their first publication of the Accessibility Guide for Handicapped Persons and spokesman for the student forum on issues for the handicapped student.

He was employed for 21 years in Consumer Services Division JPMorgan Chase, was active with the Deep South Koi & Pond Society and co-founded Truly Scrumptious Candies & Confections with his wife Linda and her sister Karen Daigle.

James was predeceased by his beloved wife Linda, his parents Gloria and Don McAdams, grandparents Glenora and James R. McAdams and Bertha and James S. Carr. He is survived by his sister, Susan “Sugar” McAdams, brother Don “Skipper” McAdams, Jr. and wife Nancy, niece Mary Jean McAdams and nephew Don “Skip” McAdams III. Also survived by in laws Remona and William Mumford, Kenny and Nancy Mumford, Karen and Harold Daigle, and Darlene and Jodi Moscona.

Visitation Tuesday October 26 at 11AM followed by memorial service at Noon, First Presbyterian Church of Baton Rouge, 701 North Boulevard, with inurnment at St Teresa of Avila Cemetery 1022 N. Burnside Gonzales, LA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church Foundation, P.O. Box 2006, Baton Rouge, LA 70821.
