
A retired mechanical engineer from Copolymer Rubber Co., Baton Rouge, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City. He was 82 and a veteran of the U.S. Army, honorably discharged as staff sergeant. A 1941 Baton Rouge High graduate, McLean graduated in 1949 from LSU with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. He enjoyed metal- and woodcraft, cooking, camping and fishing, auto mechanics and electronics and was a passionate LSU football fan. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., was on Monday, Oct. 9, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2025 Stuart Ave., is on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until Mass at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Gerald Burns, celebrant. Interment inResthavenGardensof Memory, 11817 Jefferson Highway. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Lillie Mae Domma; three daughters and spouses, Marcia Gail and John Surratt of Hattiesburg, Miss,, Joan Marie and Ed Merrill of Ludlow, Vt., and Mary Louise and Donald Bodenheimer of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; four sons and spouses, James Richard Jr. and Kathy McLean of Watson, Gregory Michael and Laurie McLean of Greenwell Springs, Patrick Thomas and Peggy McLean of Cavendish, Vt., and Michael Charles and Kate McLean of Baton Rouge; grandchildren, Shannon Pope, Misha McNabb, Kimberly Surratt, Natasha Denney, Nathan McLean, Ben McLean, Nicole McLean, Brennan McLean, Iain McLean and Seumas McLean; and great-grandchildren, Cade McLean Pope and Abigail Denney. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Elton McLean Sr. and Blanche Irene Parker; siblings, John Elton McLean Jr., Jean Charles McLean, Blanche Irene Efferson and Joe Howard McLean; and a grandson, Aaron Wilson McNabb. Pallbearers will be Ronald Domma, Kenneth Domma, Howard McLean, Howard Efferson, Michael Thibodaux and Edwin Merrill. Honorary pallbearers are Nathan McLean, Ben McLean and Brennan McLean.
