

James Dailey Nikolaus passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024 after heroically battling Pulmonary Fibrosis. Jim was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi on March 5, 1951 to Eris and James Nikolaus. Jim graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi.
Jim had three passions in life. They included spending time with his family, playing golf and his work with SLS. Jim was a lifelong golfer and a charter member of the “Fore Beezers” golf group. Jim’s career spanned over 48 years in the animal health industry at SLS. He managed a sales territory throughout the gulf coast. After 42 years of serving his customers, he moved into a position where he created and designed a state of the art e-commerce website for SLS.
Jim is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Kathy Richardson Nikolaus. Jim and Kathy had two children John Nikolaus (Kristy), Emily Nikolaus (Amy), and grandchildren Taylor, William, Charlie and Dell. A sister Jeannie Young (Bill), a sister in law, Sue Lockwood (CC), a brother in law Bo Richardson (Vicki) and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by Eris and James Nikolaus, Kathryn Bennett (sister) and her son Justin, Betty and Parry Richardson (in-laws).
The family would like to thank Dr. Roy Cullota and Dr. John Godke for their compassionate care. Jim brought joy to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be directed to The Dunham School - Baseball Fund at 11111 Roy Emerson Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70810 or The Hospice of Baton Rouge at 3600 Florida Boulevard, Baton Rouge, LA 70806. Visitation will be at St. Aloysius Church on Tuesday, August 13 from 10am until 12pm with a mass at 12pm. A reception will follow the mass in the Parish Hall at St. Aloysius Church. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
