James O. (Jim) Ragan, 88, passed away on September 10, 2026. He was the former owner of Ragan Chemicals and was a member of Red Stick Kiwanis Club, Baton Rouge. Jim enjoyed golf, fishing, volunteering at the regional food bank through Kiwanis and supporting Kiwanis sponsored events and fundraising.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Jan McNeil Ragan; parents, Jack and Ina Ragan; and his brother, Gary Ragan. He is survived by his sister, Peggy Kranz; sister-in-law, Kris Ragan; nephew, Gary Ragan (Natalia); nieces, Kristen Gass (Kevin), Jennifer Monson (Craig); and numerous grand nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thanks to his dear friends Sal Quartararo, Jerry Hammons, and Bus de Palma for their care and support.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Red Stick Kiwanis of Baton Rouge.
