
James C.M. Taylor, a Christian and the Lord's servant, passed away at age 62 on Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, at his home in Baton Rouge. Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy as a diver engaged in search, recovery and underwater demolition during the Vietnam War. He served two tours of duty, during which time he received the Meritorious Unit Commendation. He worked as a geologist for 33 years, most recently at the Louisiana Department of Mineral Resources. Jim was a member of Grace Life Fellowship Church in Baton Rouge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lehman M.C. Taylor and Oral DeLancey Taylor. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Karen Presson Taylor; a son, Andrew M.C. Taylor and wife Macy Monteverde Taylor, of Houston; a daughter, Stacia Taylor Fontenot and husband Jason Emile Fontenot, of Lafayette; and a sister, Barbara Taylor McKinney and husband (retired) Lt. Col. Craig L. McKinney, of Montgomery, Ala. Jim had been an extraordinary example of faithfulness to those who had the privilege of knowing him. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Sunday, Sept. 14, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home chapel on Monday from 9 a.m. until service at 10 a.m. Interment in Lakewood Memorial Park in Jackson, Miss., at 3 p.m. Monday.
