Jim Thompson, 68, of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on November 18, 2023. He was a quiet and gentle man who loved his family, hunting, fishing, and all things nature. Jim found solace in the woods, where he felt closest to God. He was a sportsman and an athlete who played football at Louisiana Tech. Jim was a devoted father to his son Cody and a loving husband to Rene' for 38 years.
Jim graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with a degree in microbiology and had a successful career as an estimator, construction manager, and business owner. His work took him all over the country and internationally. He returned his last months to his college town Hammond where he relived great memories and felt home.

He was preceded in death by his mother Jane Thompson, father Joe Thompson, grandmother Bessie Thompson, grandfather Farley Thompson, grandmother Cecile Walton, and grandfather Dr. Benjamin Walton.
A ceremony to celebrate Jim's life will be held on December 9, 2023, at Broadmoor United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge. Visitation will be 9:30-11 with the service at 11 and a reception following.
The family would like to thank Jim's best friend of 40 years, Tony Smith,-especially for making him laugh every day.
And a heartfelt immeasurable thank you to cousin Chess and Linda Millburn for their unwavering moral and physical support to both Jim and Rene' in the last few months. Your comfort brought him daily peace.
And to Josh Seals and Cody for tackling his list of weekly projects with never a complaint and always a smile.
He loved you all. He will be greatly missed but ever in our hearts.
