

James Gordon Chiek, Jr.James "Jimmy" Gordon Chiek, Jr., a native of Baton Rouge, and resident of Plaquemine, he passed away peacefully on May 23, 2015 at the age of 66. After graduating from Baton Rouge High School, Jimmy was determined to have a career in music. After all, music was his passion in life. He was an excellent guitar player and had a voice that was very unique. He was a member of successful bands such as "Sneaux" and "Stormy". He was the former proprietor of "Jimmy's House of Music" in Baton Rouge which sold musical instruments and he also taught guitar for many years. Jimmy never met a stranger. His kind heartedness attracted many close friends in his life. He especially loved singing and playing guitar with his longtime friend, Pat Decuir. He looked forward to long conversation and visits from family and friends but especially his daughter Christina and sister Stella Margaret. Jimmy also did home and commercial building maintenance but soon his battle with MS would ultimately take over. He is greatly loved by his family and friends and will be dearly missed. Left to treasure his memory is his daughter Christina Chiek (husband Ray Guillory); grandchildren Ashley and Brittany Guillory; sister Stella Margaret Chiek Trepagnier (husband Richard); numerous nieces and nephews; his "favorite ex-wife" Diane Chiek (Jeri Taylor). He is preceded in death by his parents James Gordon Chiek, Sr., and Stella Claire Gaudin Chiek; and a brother James Randolph Chiek. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home (825 Government Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70802) at 8:30 AM until the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM officiated by Deacon William "Bill" Blair. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. V and all the medical staff who cared for him throughout his illness.
