
A native and former longtime resident of New Orleans, Mrs. Landwehr passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Baton Rouge on Monday, Jan. 7, 2008. She was principal and teacher for 30 years at Our Savior Lutheran School and second-grade teacher for 17 years in the Orleans Parish public school system at John A. Shaw Elementary in New Orleans. Janet was 69. Visitation at Trinity Lutheran Church on Thursday, Jan. 10, from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Scott Schmieding. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Mrs. Landwehr is survived by her husband of 52 years, Joseph R. Landwehr Jr.; and a brother and sister-in-law, Edmond T. Wegener Jr. and Darlene Wegener. Preceded in death by her parents, Edmond T. Wegener Sr. and Elsie Graff Wegener. Janet was president of her honor society in education, Kappa Delta Pi. She was recognized by the U.S. Congress in 1974 as one of 13 Woman Educators in private schools in the United States. Janet held many offices in Lutheran education in the Southern District Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, including secretary of the Teacher Conference.
