
A loving, dedicated wife, sister, selfless mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, this beautiful and sweet lady died at home on Monday, March 12 surrounded by her family. Many thanks to the Hospice of Baton Rouge for their loving care and support. She was a retired state employee and homemaker. She was 85 and was a native and resident of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral home, 825 Government St., on Wednesday, March 14, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Thursday, March 15 from 1 p.m. until religious services at 2 p.m. Interment at Roselawn Memorial Park. Survived by her brother, Leon McGraw and his wife JoRay McGraw; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol Ruth and Andy Szakmary; two sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel Ray Matheny and Jane Bozeman Matheny and Barry Joseph Matheny and Taffy Ransom Matheny; a granddaughter, Laura Elizabeth Szakmary; six grandsons, Joseph Clifford Matheny, Wesley Allen Matheny and his wife Jennifer, Christopher Michael Matheny and his fiancee Jenna Holmes, Luke Daniel Matheny, Paul Jeffrey Matheny, and Stephen Andrew Szakmary; greatgrandson, Jackson Joseph Matheny; great-granddaughter, Morgan Mary Matheny; and step-grandson, John W. St. Amant and wife Linda St. Amant. Preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Murray Matheny Jr.; a son, Jeffrey Murray Matheny; and a daughter, Laura Louise Matheny. She was a longtime member of Blackwater United Methodist Church and the Salvation Army Auxiliary.
