Janice Was born on March 12, 1947 to her parents Isaac Kinchen and Francis Ennis Kinchen. She accepted God at an early age as her savior. She attended McKinnly High School, Southern University and later went to school to become a special education teacher. She was married twice. In these unions there were three children, Bretha Jones Simms, Patrick Jones and Justin Hawkins. She was preceded in death by a host of relatives. A visitation will be held on January 17, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at New Canaan Baptist Church of Baton Rouge, located at 2160 Highland Rd, Baton Rouge, LA 70802. The funeral service will follow at the same venue from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. The burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park, 4045 North St, Baton Rouge, LA 70806, from 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm on the same day. A repass will be held at New Canaan Baptist Church following the burial.
