

Jean Elizabeth Barlow died Friday, Nov. 25, 2011, in her daughter's home in Pierre Part. She was 90. Jean was known by everyone as a loving and caring mother who would give to anyone in need. She was born June 5, 1921, to Jim and Martie Mitchell, in Talihina, Okla., and was one of 13 children. She married William Barlow and reared three children, Sandra, Bill and Jean Ann in Baton Rouge. She was a very generous, honest and strong woman and we were so lucky to have her as our mother. Heaven has truly gained an angel from earth. She leaves behind her daughter, Sandra Garza and husband Manuel; and son, Bill Barlow. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Manny Garza and wife Amy, Rhonda Lindsly and husband Calvin, Michael Garza, Todd Barlow and Brandi Barlow; seven great-grandchildren, Brandon Lindsly, Kalyn Lindsly, Jordon Garza, Kelby Garza, Lance Garza, Jordyn Barlow and Chance Barlow; two sisters, Elba Rutledge, of Denton, Texas and Doris Hilton, of Jackson, Mo.; one brother, Jimmy Mitchell, of Medford, Ore. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; her daughter, Jean Ann, who was her special angel; and nine other brothers and sisters. A special thanks to Cardinal Hospice, Charlotte Demery, the Rev. Herb Cowan and Bayou Home Health, Debra Frick, Frannie Mabile and all of our friends and neighbors for all of their love, help and support. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, 70815, on Monday, Nov. 28, from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by graveside service, with the Rev. Herb Cowan officiating. She will be so sadly missed but so lovingly remembered by all. She was an extra special lady.
