

Jean Wilson Roberts was born February 4, 1930, in Oak Ridge, Louisiana, and was a resident of Baton Rouge for 63 years. She went to be with the Lord on July 22, 2022. Jean grew up in Springhill, Louisiana, and attended Northwestern State University. A Realtor for many years, she served on the Greater Baton Rouge Board of Realtors. As a member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church, she served in many capacities including Chairman of the Administrative Board and President of United Methodist Women. She loved her church. Jean also was a proud member of P.E.O. Chapter C, having served as President and on many committees throughout the years. She volunteered in many capacities at Southeastern Ministries, Baton Rouge Little Theater, Sunday School, and other charitable organizations. She loved to travel and made many trips to Europe, the Caribbean and in the U.S.A. Survivors include sons, Dr. Russell Roberts (Debra) of Shreveport and Gary Roberts of Baton Rouge; granddaughters, Dr. Kelly Roberts of Fort Worth, Texas, Kathryn Roberts Polk and Claire Roberts of Dallas, Texas. Also survived by her brother Wayne Herrington (Jane) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, niece Renee Smith (Phillip) and nephews Steven Herrington (Susan) and Tim Herrington (Gina), cousins, Kay Couch of San Antonio and Yvonne Stivers (Harley) of Lumberton, Texas; nine great nephews and two great nieces. She is also survived by special friends of over 60 years, Shirley Pourciau and Caroline Daigle of Baton Rouge. Preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Murphy Roberts; parents, Claude and Ethel Jenkins Herrington and father, Albert Jack Wilson, cousin Greg Payne and all of her aunts, uncles and cousins. Joining Murphy, her parents and other family welcome Jean to her “Homecoming”, were Bobbye and Avera Mays, Evie and Hank van Deutekon, Buddy Pourciau, Bert Daigle and family members who got there before her. A Memorial Service will be held at Broadmoor United Methodist Church, 10230 Mollylea Drive, on Saturday, August 6, with visiting will begin at 11:00am until service time of 12:00pm. A reception will follow the service. Rev. Donnie Wilkinson and Rev. Tom Cook will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Broadmoor United Methodist Church or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Memphis, TN.
