
A resident of Baton Rouge, she died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007. She was 85, born Nov. 9, 1921, in Elmira, N.Y., and was raised in Big Flats, N.Y. Visitation at University Presbyterian Church, 3240 Dalrymple Drive, on Monday, Oct. 15, from 1 p.m. until memorial service at 3 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Clint Mitchell. She is survived by eight children, Lawrence V. George Jr. and wife Ann, Baton Rouge, Carolyn Eleanor George and partner Sara, Charlottesville, Va., John Erwin Stanley and wife Sally, Kingston, Tenn., Shirley George Forsha and husband Jeff, Charlotte, N.C., Betty George Raymond and husband Robert, Thomas Burton Stanley and wife Carol, all of Baton Rouge, Barbara George Pearson and husband Mark, Livonia, Mich., and William Christopher George and wife Kristi, St. Francisville; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and a niece, Aris Ann Oliver, Baton Rouge. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence V. George Sr.; her parents, Henry Minier Sr. and Jane Hamilton Minier; and brothers, Henry Minier Jr. and Samuel A. Minier. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who studied home economics at Cornell University. Jeanne was a member of University Presbyterian Church in Baton Rouge where she was a longtime member of the Readers' Service Organization. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Baton Rouge.
