Jennifer Ray Watson

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 10, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Jennifer will be laid to rest beside her mother and father at Roselawn Cemetery in Baton Rouge.

Jennifer Ray Bailey, age 46, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, July 27, at her residence.

Born in Baton Rouge, Jennifer was raised in both Baton Rouge and Alexandria, Louisiana. She attended St. Rita Catholic Church in Alexandria, graduated from Alexandria Senior High School, and later earned a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from Louisiana State University. Jennifer made her home in Baton Rouge’s historic Spanish Town neighborhood and served as an Administrative Assistant with the Louisiana State Legislature at the State Capitol. Throughout her life, she remained active in her Catholic faith and worshipped at several Baton Rouge parishes, including St. Joseph Cathedral, St. Aloysius Catholic Church, and Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church.

Jennifer had a joyful spirit and treasured the time she spent with her friends. She had a special fondness for Hello Kitty, flamingos, and music, all of which reflected her fun-loving personality and brought her happiness. Those who knew Jennifer will remember her gentle heart, warm smile, and the kindness she shared with others.

Jennifer was preceded in death by her father, Joseph John Bailey; her mother, Belle Bush Bailey; her paternal grandmother, Marilyn Hannie; her maternal grandmother, Myra Belle Bush; and her uncles, Charlie Bush and Jeff Myrick.

She is survived by her stepmother, Sharon Furrate; her stepbrother, Timothy Cameron Furrate; and many loving relatives and dear friends who will cherish her memory.

Jennifer will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched. May she rest in the eternal peace and love of Christ.
