

Jeron was born in Sulphur, LA, and was a graduate of Sulphur High School. He was an Eagle Scout and the first National President of Future Business Leaders of America. Jeron was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity at Tulane University. He graduated from Tulane Law School in 1958 and went on to practice law in Southwest Louisiana for 20 years. Jeron had many other accomplishments throughout his career, such as being a past President of Sulphur Lions Club, President and General Manager of the Calcasieu-Cameron Fair Association (1973-1977), served 2 terms as President of Louisiana Association of Fairs and Festivals (1975-1976), and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2005. During his career as an attorney, he served as Chief of Litigation for the Jefferson Parish Attorney’s Office and Assistant Attorney General of the state of Louisiana. Jeron eventually retired as a full Colonel in Judge Advocate General’s Corp., U.S. Army Reserve. He loved his country and the American flag. Jeron was also a proud boat captain and private plane pilot. Jeron was a remarkable man who will be missed by all who knew him.
Jeron is survived by his daughter, Elena Coffman (Dale) of Baton Rouge, LA; son, Douglas LaFargue (Rachel) of Verdun, France; step-daughter, Dana Dixon of San Pedro, CA; sister, Susan Kyle of Sulphur, LA; along with 8 grandchildren, 6 step-grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Myron Joseph LaFargue and Geraldine Condon LaFargue; wife, Gail Singletary LaFargue; brother, Gregory Wayne LaFargue, and step-daughter, Julie Dunham Doster.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 9th in the St. Francis Chapel at Ollie Steele Burden Manor from 12pm to 1pm; with a funeral service officiated by Deacon Mike Chiappetta, beginning at 1 pm. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 10th at Orange Grove Cemetery in Lake Charles, LA at 1pm, conducted by Deacon Cody Miller. Pallbearers are Grant Coffman, Chris Gillen, and Brandon Vincent. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Edward Villemez and Dr. Dale Coffman.
Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Vincent De Paul, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank the Ollie Steele Burden Manor staff for their care and compassion.
