Jessie Morris Jones

Jessie Morris "Sonny" Jones, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away from this earth to meet his Lord and Savior on Friday, April 22, 2011. He was born Nov. 24, 1932, in Holden and was a resident of Greenwell Springs. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, employee of Bancroft Paper for more than 30 years and owner/president of Burnam Paper for 31 years. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 58 years, Mary Grace Dentro Jones; children, Debbie Jones Duplantis and husband Jerry Lee, Russell M. Jones, Carolyn Jones Hunt and husband Chuck, and Todd A. Jones and wife Diane; grandchildren, Amanda Jones, Annie Duplantis Borill and husband Ryan, Melissa K. Jones, Jerry Duplantis Jr., Madeline Hunt, Nicholas Jones and Katie Jones; great-grandchildren, Savannah Babin, Kade Repp, Luke, Noah and Jude Borill; brothers, Gerald Stewart and Carroll Reed Stewart; sisters, Judy Borries, Ethel Worthy and Annette Courtney; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Cecile and L.J. Nobles. His pride and greatest pleasure in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid fishermen and LSU sports fan. He was a founding member of St. Pius X Catholic Church parish and a current member of St. Alphonsus Ligouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ike Stewart and Etta Stewart Davis; and brothers, Cecil Jones and Jerry Stewart. He will be greatly missed by his large and loving family and numerous friends for his love and caring nature and his unique sense of humor. Visitation at St. Alphonsus Ligouri Catholic Church on Monday, April 25, from 11 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m., celebrated by the Rev. Mike Maroney. Interment to follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rabenhorst Funeral Home East.
