Jim died on September 5, 2014 after a long struggle with diabetes, kidney failure, and heart disease. He was a fighter and never gave up. He was raised in Silver Creek, MS. He loved planting and growing things. Jim was a"hands on"kind of guy, who worked hard most of his life. He served a tour of duty in the United States Air Force. When he got out of the service, he mostly worked on cars as an auto body man, but his passion was in wood working. He made many swings, birdhouses and tables to give to the kids and family friends. He belonged to Nativity Catholic Church in New Iberia, LA for many years, was a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus, and made a Men's Cursillo at Prairie Ronde. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kathy Cliburn; and 10 children: Keith, Jimmy, Bob, Phillip, Rick, Jack, Angela, Jamie, Donna and Darlene. He is also survived by 2 brothers, Billy and Charlie; a sister, Mary Nell; 21 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Bryan; mother, Lillie; dad, Henry Ausbin; and brother, Jerry. Pallbearers will be his family members. Services will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St. on Monday, September 8, 2014. Viewing will begin at 8am, Rosary at 9am, and service at 11am, celebrated by Rev. Phil Spano. Burial will be in the Reed Cemetery, south of Basile, LA. Jim loved and needed his family, and we loved and needed him. We miss him already.
