Jimmy Dale Dykes, beloved husband, father and grandfather was called to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on April 1, 2024. He entered this world on October 20, 1950, born to the late Robert and Edna Dykes in Magnolia, MS. Jimmy was a faithful lifetime member of Trinity Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, LA.
He was a successful business man who was a mechanic, master carpenter, millwright and owned a roofing company. After serving 7 years in the National Guard, Jimmy enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, traveling, socializing and was a craftsman in woodworking.
He was the beloved husband of Karen Slaven Dykes. Father of Kasey Dykes, Nicolas Dykes and Nicole Richert, husband Kyle Richert. Grandfather of Seth Richert and future baby Richert coming in October. Brother to Mike Dykes, wife Sherri. Brother in law of Douglas M. Slaven. Nephew to his fatherly Uncle, Willie Knippers, and to Bobby Knippers. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents and his stepfather; Sam Martin, Father in law; Vernon E. Slaven and Mother in law; Mary T. Slaven.
Pallbearers will be Kasey Dykes, Nicolas Dykes, Kyle Richert, Scotty Dykes, Chad Chauvin, Chris Knippers and honorary pallbearer; Mike Dykes.
Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70815 on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 12pm. Visitation will be on Friday evening, April 5th from 4:30 pm until 7: 30 pm and will resume again on Saturday Morning from 11:00 am until service time. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
