

JoAnn Birdwell Gross was called home on Monday, September 4, 2017, to be with her Lord and Savior and late husband David, whom she missed terribly since his death in March 2015. She was a native of Nacogdoches, TX and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA. She was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
JoAnn was a piping designer for several engineering firms in the Baton Rouge area for over 40 years before her retirement from Jacobs. After her retirement, she traveled extensively with her husband, David, and often with her friends. JoAnn was an avid bridge player and a member of several different bridge clubs, some over 50 years. She was a member of Trianon and a book club. She loved hosting holiday events, LSU and Saints football games and crawfish boils for family and friends. She is survived by her sons, Mark, Brad (Karen), Darrell (Yvette) and Brian Gross; grandsons, Ryan, Kyle and Brett Gross; granddaughters, Megan, Cailyn and Jessica Gross; brothers, Vernon and Donnie Birdwell; precious Cairn Terriers, Abby and Chip; and former daughter-in-law, Gayle. JoAnn is preceded in death by her loving husband, David; parents Link and Ilda Birdwell; son, David; granddaughters, Kristin and Keri Gross; brother, Gerald Birdwell; and sister, Lucy Hilton. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, Thursday, September 7, 2017, from 10:00AM until the time of funeral service at 12:00PM.
