Joan Vivian Sykes

A native of Olla, Louisiana and resident of Baton Rouge, she died Monday, November 18 at the Carpenter House. She was 81 years of age. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd. on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the religious service at 1:30 p.m. conducted by Bro. Stephen M. Young, II. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park. She is survived by 3 daughters, Carla Demoulin and husband Melvin, Cheryl Lambert and husband Clem and Kristina Babin and husband Patrick; Grandson/Son Daryl "Keith" Sykes II and wife Amanda; 5 grandsons; Brad Demoulin, Justin Jenkins, Devin Jenkins, Patrick Babin, Jr. and Charles Babin and 6 great-grandchildren, Bradley Demoulin, Jr., Cayden Demoulin, Mack Demoulin, Magdalena Jenkins and Miranda Sykes and 4 step-grandchildren, Landen Boudreaux, Jessica Major, Jacqueline Gautreaux and Kaitlyn Lambert. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles H. Sykes, a son and daughter-in law, Daryl and Miranda Ann Sykes and a grandson, Bryan Michael Demoulin. She was a lifelong member of  Stevendale Baptist Church where she served as Nursery Coordinator for over 30 years and a long time member and former Chaplain of VFW Post 7017 Ladies Auxiliary.
