
JoAnne S. Wilson, a native of Parkersburg, W.Va., and resident of Baton Rouge, passed away Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at age 92. Mrs. Wilson graduated from the LSU School of Social Welfare, worked for the East Baton Rouge Parish Welfare Department and the Louisiana Welfare Department. Survived by her son, Robert Wilson, Baton Rouge; grandchildren, Melissa Chauser, Baton Rouge, Jennifer Wilson Palasi, Dallas, and Christopher Wilson, of Fort Worth, Texas; and great-grandson, Andrew Wilson, of Maurepas. She is also survived by a brother, Donald Sams, of Gonzales. Preceded in death by her parents, Russell F. and Nellie Sams; husband, Fred E. Wilson; son, Russell Wilson; daughter, Patricia Wilson Chauser; brothers, Jack and Roger Sams; and sister, Nancy Jones. Visitation at First Christian Church of Baton Rouge on Wednesday, Sept. 7, from 9 a.m. until funeral service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Michael Karunas. Entombment at Greenoaks Mausoleum.
