

A native of Baton Rouge and resident of Denham Springs, he died at 3 a.m. Monday, June 7, 2010, at his home. He was a retired superintendent with DSM Copolymer with 42 years service. He was 73 and an Army veteran, stationed in the Panama Canal Zone from 1953-1956, and attained the rank of sergeant. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., Tuesday, June 8, was from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Visiting continues at the funeral home Wednesday, June 9, from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Denham Springs, Wednesday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Bob Konopa, celebrant. Burial in Roselawn Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Alice Friedrichs Bennett; son, Troy Alan Bennett; daughter and son-in-law, Julie Bennett Templet and Wade Templet; grandson, Blake Anthony Ellis; two granddaughters, Jacqueline Nicole Bennett and Amy Elizabeth Phillips; great-granddaughter, Madyson Rose Phillips; brothers and sisters-in-law, John Cecil Bennett and Joyce Bennett and James Hardy Bennett and Louise Bennett; and three sisters and a brother-in-law, Mae Sharpe, Louise Anselmo and Winnie Lee Smith and Mike Smith. Preceded in death by his father, Frank Oliver Bennett; mother, Cornelia Picard Bennett; brother, Frank Oliver Bennett Jr.; and sister, Margaret O'Donnell. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Denham Springs, and past governor of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1341, Baton Rouge. Pallbearers will be Keith Bennett, Danny Bennett, Glenn Bennett, Randy Sharpe, Sam Anselmo and Wade Templet. Honorary pallbearers are his nephews Rick Bennett, Craig Bennett, Kevin Bennett, Ronnie Simoneaux, Jeff Sharpe, David Sharpe, Joel Helmke, Frank Helmke, Nathan Smith, Stan Holley, Reggie Holley, Jackie O'Donnell, Paul Friedrichs and David Friedrichs. Bubba was an avid sportsman who loved boating, going to his camp, to fish and hunt and to boil crawfish and to bar-b-que for family and friends.
