John Robert Boesch

John Robert "Bob" Boesch entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, July 19, following a brief battle with myelodysplastic syndrome, a rare form of blood cancer. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, with his sons by his side.

Bob was born on January 2, 1943, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to John Emile Boesch and Lois Brown Boesch. Shortly after World War II, his family moved to Baton Rouge, where he spent most of his life. He was a devoted husband, loving father, faithful servant of Christ, and trusted friend. His life was marked by his faithful service to his wife, his family and his Lord.

Bob was into scouting and building rockets as a kid. He earned Eagle Scout rank before he was 18. After graduating from Istrouma high school, Bob proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. For four years, he worked as an aircraft mechanic specializing in electronics and avionics, maintaining bomber aircraft in support of the Air Force's mission.

Following his military service, Bob earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from Louisiana State University. He spent most of his professional career with Ethyl Corporation in North Baton Rouge.

Bob and the love of his life, Beatrice Lynn Boesch, shared 55 wonderful years of marriage. Together they built their home in Baton Rouge, where they raised their three sons in a home centered on faith, love, and family.

His greatest passion, however, was serving Christ. Bob faithfully served for many years as a Sunday School teacher and deacon, first at Lanier Baptist Church and later at Greenwell Springs Baptist Church. He loved teaching God's Word and quietly investing in the lives of others.

After retiring, Bob devoted countless hours to the work of Gideons International, helping place Bibles into the hands of students, hospital patients, travelers, military personnel, and prison inmates around the world. His heart for sharing God's Word took him on mission trips with the Gideons to Zambia and Japan.

Perhaps nowhere was Bob's character more clearly displayed than in his devotion to his beloved wife, Lynn. As Alzheimer's disease gradually stole her memories and abilities over nearly twenty years, Bob cared for her with remarkable patience, tenderness, and unwavering love. His faithful commitment through those difficult years reflected the covenant he had made before God and stood as a powerful testimony to everyone who knew them.

Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Beatrice Lynn Boesch; his mother, Lois Brown Boesch; and his father, John Emile Boesch.

He is survived by his sisters, Linda Boesch Brietling and Martha Boesch; his sons, John Brian Boesch, Brett Emile Boesch, and Kevin Christian Boesch; along with their families, including his cherished grandchildren. His legacy of faith, love, and service will continue through each of them.

Though his family grieves his absence, they rejoice in the assurance that Bob is now at home with the Lord—whole, healed, and forever in His presence. His life was a blessing to many, and his example will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70815, on Saturday, August 8, 2026 from 9 am until funeral services at 11 am. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
