

John DeJean, 87, of Baton Rouge, LA passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Ochsner Medical Center Kenner. Born in Opelousas, LA, he met the love of his life, Rosemary in New York and settled in the Baton Rouge area. John was a well regarded educator and coach. John loved tennis and in his retirement years was a tennis competitor in the Senior Olympics and many local and regional tennis tournaments. He had a unique passion for life and always enjoyed the chance to share humor and let others experience his joyous smile. John was extremely proud to be Rosemary’s husband, the loving father of his four children, John, Jr. (J.B.), Daryl, Sharon and Dawn. John was proud to be a grandfather of 10 grandchildren David DeJean, Danielle DeJean-Allen, Jacques DeJean, Jean-Luc DeJean, Brice Murray, George Murray, Brad Murray, Morgan Hendriks, Kaitlyn Hendriks, Chase Hendriks and great grandfather to 5 great grandchildren David DeJean, Jr., Caleb DeJean, Isaac DeJean, Blake Murray and Everett Allen. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 30 from 9:00am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Avenue, Baton Rouge, LA 70806. John will be laid to rest with his Heavenly Father at Green Oaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70815.
