John S. Edwards

John S. Edwards, a lifelong resident of the Baton Rouge area, passed away on Wednesday, July 27th, 2022, at the age of 83. Born in Cairo, GA, his family moved to Baton Rouge in 1942. John was a graduate of Istrouma High School class of ‘57, and attended LSU. John spent 37 years serving the Baton Rouge area as a State Farm agent and retired in 2003. John was an avid outdoorsman, spending much of his time enjoying the local woods & waters with family & friends. John is survived by his love and wife of 45 years, Elaine Juneau Edwards; children, Connie Glenn, Patti Daigle, Judy Edwards, Donna King, Kristie Kilgore, & Rory Breland; 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, E.N. & Ruby Edwards; his brother, Neel Edwards Jr; and grandson, Byron Douglas. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East at 11000 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, on Tuesday, Aug 2, 2022, from 6 -8 pm and will resume at Greenwell Springs Baptist Church located at 19421 Greenwell Springs Rd, Central, on Wed Aug 3 from 10 am until a service at 11:30 am. Burial will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Lynn King, Michael Kilgore, Paul Daigle, Tim Edwards, Logan Edwards, Rory Breland, and honorary pallbearer Samuel Kilgore.
