
A retired training supervisor with Ethyl Corp. and a resident of Baton Rouge, he died at 2:24 p.m.Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006. He was 90 and a native of Picayune, Miss. Religious service at University Presbyterian Church, 3240 Dalrymple Drive, was at 2:30 p.m.Thursday, Oct. 26, conducted by the Rev. Patricia Snyder. He is survived by two daughters, Cara Meyers and husband John of New Mexico and Laura Furr of Baton Rouge; a son, Riley J. Furr and wife Marta Furr of Baton Rouge; five sisters, Jesse Scoggins, Baton Rouge, Christine Carsley, Canton, Miss., Iva Loy Chambers, Hattiesburg, Miss., Thomasine Blackwell, Sherman, Texas, and Charlene Schrock, Picayune; a brother, David A. Furr of Monroe; and two grandchildren, David Mendez Furr and Michael E. Furr, both of Baton Rouge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Ryals Furr and Ruby Thornhill Furr, who were of Picayune; and wife, Jean S. Furr. He was a graduate of WashingtonandLeeUniversity,Lexington, Va., LSU and theUniversityofMichigan,Ann Arbor, Mich., where he majored in chemistry. He was president of the Baton Rouge Chapter of American Society for Training and Development and served as an elder and choir member of University Presbyterian Church for 46 years.
