John Jennings Holliday, age 89, passed away on September 1, 2026. Born on July 9, 1937, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, John resided in Saint Gabriel, Louisiana. He worked at Dow Chemical, was an Eagle Scout, and served three years in the United States Marine Corps.
John is survived by his spouse, Lillian Harelson Holliday; sons, Mark J. Holliday (Paula) and Christopher A. Holliday (Kathryn); daughters, Elizabeth H. Hoffmann (Jeff) and Lisa H. Summerville (Ernest); sister, Susan H. Young; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and 1 step grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bessie LaJune Y. Holliday; grandson, Holden Christopher Holliday; parents, James and Amy B. Holliday and brother-in-law, Warren L. Young.
The family would like to send a special thanks to The Crossing at Clarity Hospice in Baton Rouge. Memorial contributions can be made to The Crossing at Clarity Hospice, St. Jude Children's Hospital, and Ronald McDonald House.
Relatives and friends are invited to St. Gabriel Catholic Church on Friday, September 4 for a visitation at 9:00AM until a rosary at 10:30AM. A funeral mass will begin at 11:00AM. Burial will be held at Azalea Rest Cemetery on Monday, September 7 at 10:00AM.
