Obituary of John Clyde Miller Sr.
John Clyde Miller, 56, passed away August 7, 2022. Born on January 4, 1966, John grew up in Baton Rouge, attended Broadmoor High School and graduated from LSU in 1988. He married the love of his life Graham Wetherbee in 1992 and had three children – Mary Madalyn, Clyde and Maggie. John’s career took him to several states early-on, but he came home to Baton Rouge to raise his growing family. Finding a church home was a priority. He found a devoted community of faith at First United Methodist Church. John actively practiced his Christian faith in several Bible studies and prayer groups. He taught high school Sunday School and most recently served as Lay Director on the Men’s Walk to Emmaus #88. A loyal LSU fan, Tiger stadium was his favorite place be on a Louisiana Saturday night. After several years in department store retail, John joined Coca-Cola United in 2002 and most recently served as its Director of Key Accounts for the West Region. He was proud of the achievements of his Coke family. Giving back to the community was an important part of John’s life. He served on the boards of the Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce, Better Business Bureau (past Chairman), Mary Bird Perkins, and countless other charities and organizations. A treasured son, brother, husband, father and friend, John had the wonderous ability to make people feel valued and loved. He was a marvelous storyteller and knew how to make people laugh. John’s personality was larger than life. He never met a stranger and was an ambassador for Christ. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11 John is survived by his wife of 30 years, Graham Wetherbee; children Mary Madalyn, John Clyde, and Margaret Ann; his father James N. Miller, sister Sally Miller Byrom (James); brother James N. Miller, Jr. (Shawn); Aunt Ellen Cuthbertson Campbell, father-in-law John Perron Wetherbee, Jr., sisters and brothers-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews.
