John David Schwab

"A native of Baton Rouge, LA, John passed away on January 13, 2018 in Zachary, LA at the age of 102. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church his entire life and served as an usher for many years. He graduated with a business degree from LSU and worked for Exxon for 38 years in Office Services.  He remained very active, walking 1 to 2 miles a day up until he was 100 years old. John enjoyed watching baseball and basketball, especially LSU.   He loved his family very dearly and considered them his greatest accomplishment.     He is greatly loved and will be dearly missed.  John is survived by his children Katherine S. Denham (husband Jesse) of Zachary, LA, John D. Schwab, Jr. (wife Bennie) of El Cajon, CA, and Janie S. Basham (husband Gary) of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Doug Denham, Derek Denham (wife Amy), Sefa S. Tyra (husband Sean), Julie Schwab,  John D. Schwab, III (fiancé Rachael Chesley), and Decker Basham (wife Kelly); and 2 great-grandchildren, Dallas Tyra and Lillian Basham.  He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Jane Malain Schwab; parents, John Schwab and Annie A. Schwab; and brothers, Philip, George, and William Schwab.  Visitation will be on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church (2250 Main Street, Baton Rouge 70802) from 10:00 am until the Funeral Mass at 11:30 am officiated by Father Miles Walsh.  Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.  Pallbearers will be Doug Denham, Derek Denham, Decker Basham, John D. Schwab, III, Larry Brown, and Glenn Morris.  In lieu of flowers donations in John's name may be made to St. Vincent de Paul (P.O. Box 127, Baton Rouge, LA 70821) or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101).
