John Nelson Strecker, a native of Great Bend, Kansas and a resident of Greenwell Springs, Louisiana, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024 at the age of 62. In a world where change and fluidity have become the norm, John was the constant that centered the family. He was always there to remind everyone that they were loved with cards or texts on special days. He was thoughtful, kind, and intelligent. He had a love for history, literature, and writing. His gift, reason, and understanding was often influenced by quotes of those he admired, even those written within the comics section of the daily paper. Probably his greatest passion was to build things with his hands, and those hands built a beautiful family. He is survived by his father, Dennis Dale Strecker Sr.; two sons, Joshua Abraham Vaughan and wife Kimberly, and John Christopher Strecker; daughter, Katie Lauren Yeager and husband Coleman; brother, Dennis “Butch” Strecker; grandchildren, Samantha Claire Vaughan and Jaxon Hayes Yeager. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lisa Marie Burks Strecker; mother, Mary Strecker; and sister-in-law, Joyce Strecker. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70815 on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM with funeral service beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be his sons, Joshua and Christopher; and brothers-in-law, Michael Paul Burks, Shawn Burks, Greg Burks, Chad Burks, Todd Burks, and Michael Mitchell.
