John Donnie Thompson

John Donnie Thompson, 64, a loving father, grandfather, son, character and friend to many, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, December 30, 2014. He was was a native of Baton Rouge, LA and was a life long resident of Brownsfield. He retired from Associate Grocers after spending 29 years with his extended family. He was a 1969 graduate of Glen Oaks High School. He is survived by his daughter, Laura Thompson Bush, his son, John Brian Thompson and fiancé Sherelyn Hanks, and his daughter, Leslie Thompson Hall and husband Timothy, his beloved mother, Ernestine Stafford Vargo, and five grandchildren, Elizabeth Bourgeois and husband P.J., Dylan Hall and Dominic, Madison and Weston Hall and several other extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lem and Lillie Thompson, a father, Johnny Thompson, 2 stepfathers, Sam Spedale and Steve Vargo and 2 grandchildren, Donovan and Savannah Hall. Pallbearers will be Dylan Hall, P.J. Bourgeois, Timothy Hall, Tim Rainwater, Buddy Pearce, and Kyle Tircuit. Honorary pallbearers will be Mack Allgood and Nolan Gill. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home in Baton Rouge on Friday, January 2, 2015 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday, January 3, 2015 from 9:00 am until funeral service at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
