
"He was a friend to all he met; a person of whom it was an honor to know." He was a retired insurance agent, a native of Hornell, N.Y., and a resident of Baton Rouge. John died at 5 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008, at his daughter's home in Madisonville at age 78. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Tuesday, Sept. 16, was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m., led by the Knights of Columbus. Visitation at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Michael Collins, celebrant. Entombment in St. George Catholic Church Mausoleum. He is survived by three daughters, Mary Lenore Milla and husband David, Marcella Kathleen Wallin and Eileen Suzanne Jorgensen and husband Geoff; two sons, John Edward Wallin Jr. and wife Mary and James Michael Wallin; sister, Peggy Hussong; two brothers, Richard and Robert Wallin; five grandchildren, Gabriel John Wallin, Kate Elizabeth Wallin, Claire Wallin, Mary Margaret Milla and Caitlin Eileen Jorgensen. John was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Mary Lenore Linn Wallin; and sisters, Dorothy Ohnsorg and Molly Tracy. He was a member of Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tenn.
