Proverbs 22:1 A loving son, husband, father, grandfather and loyal friend, he passed away about 1 a.m.Friday, Dec. 8, 2006. He was a longtime resident of Baton Rougeand a native ofJeffersontown, Ky.He retired from a career that he loved as a marine project engineer. He is survived by his mother, Evalena Durrett Meyer; his devoted wife of 50 years, Jackie Durrett; a daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and David Mott of Roswell, Ga.; a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Suzie Durrett of Zachary; a sister and brother-in-law, Emily Durrett Gross and Lynn Gross of Louisville, Ky.; four grandchildren, Shane Reed, Whitney Durrett, and Mason and Sarah Mott; and two great-grandchildren, Zach and Katie Reed. He was preceeded in death by his father, Robert Lee Durrett. His career as a project engineer was with Bernard and Burk, Koger and Boxill, Hall Buck Marine, Kinder Morgan and River Consulting N.O. He was a 1956 honors graduate of theUniversityofKentuckyin civil engineering. He was a member of Louisiana Engineering Society, Tau Beta Phi. He was a great fan of theUniversityofKentuckybasketball team and a supporter of Habitat for Humanity. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., was on Monday, Dec. 11, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Service at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12. Interment will be private. Honorary pallbearers are Tom Buzbee, William Powell, Bill Snider, Ed Grant, Risdon Wood, George Hart, Ernest Ray Smith, Clovis Morrison and Joe Timphony. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Habitat for Humanity or Hospice of Baton Rouge. The family especially wants to thank the ICU staff of Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet, Baton Rouge Hospice, Dannett Cocraft and Dr. Robert Craig for their care and support. Dad, you gave me goals, then showed me the way.
