Obituary of Joseph C. Folse
Joseph (Joe) Clifford Folse earned his wings on May 8, 2022, surrounded by family and many loving caregivers. He was born in Convent, Louisiana and was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge. He was employed at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church for many years and was later self-employed as a Master Carpenter. He was indeed “Mr. Fix it”. His skills in carpentry were unmatched by any in the field. He worked diligently and hard until the very end. He would always say, “When I can’t work then just shoot me”. He worked his craft and he worked it well that was a fact. He had a good heart and always sought to help anyone in need with whatever their need was and was always willing to share some good advice. He loved his cowboy movies and his cowboy boots. He appreciated the simple things in life, like a strong cup of community coffee usually shared with his neighbor, Nicey and a pack of black and mild cigars. He also loved visiting with his grandkids. They were always a source of joy to him. On any day of the week, he could be found headed to a potential job, wearing his short shorts, pencil behind his ear and a small note tablet in his shirt pocket. Also, in tow was his good friend and faithful assistant, Richard. They spent lots of time together, watching movies, but mostly arguing. He was such a funny man and could always put a smile on a sad face. Joseph is survived by his son, Fabian (Kameisha); his daughter Brittany (Leroy); and his grandchildren, Mykayla, Fabian, Jr., Pierre, Khiled, Kaiden, Airelle, Camerin, Kylen, Bryton, Paris, London and Malachi; Two sisters-in-laws; Janice Folse and Eileen Folse, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Numa and Josephine Folse; his siblings, Marie, Marion, Milton, Roland, and Numa, Jr. The family would like to send special thanks to caregivers, Nicey, Cypress Home Health, the staff of the Hospice of Baton Rouge General Butterfly Wing and Baton Rouge General Medical Center Mid-City Second Floor Staff Relatives and friends are invited to share in his Homegoing Celebration at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Visitation to begin at 10:00 am until the Rosary at 10:45 am and Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. The family would ask that you join them for a Celebration of life Reception at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church immediately following the interment.
