
Joseph G. Henderson, 81, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, on Wednesday, May 27th, 2015. Joe was a graduate of Catholic High and LSU. He proudly served as a U.S. Marine and was a U.S. Embassy Guard in Stuttgart, Germany. He retired from Sears after 20+ years. His favorite past time was bass fishing. One of his proudest accomplishments was becoming a Professional Bass Fisherman winning many local, regional and state tournaments. He was a founding member of The Baton Rouge Bass Club. Joe was a devout Catholic and worshiped at St. Louis King of France and Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. He is survived by his three children, Monica Henderson Canova, Stan Henderson and Molly Henderson Smiley (Pat); granddaughters, Isabella and Alexandra Canova; siblings, Irene Martin (Rohan LaFleur), Butch Henderson (Theresa)and Lynette LoCoco; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Troy and Leona Henderson; and two brothers, Troy Jr and Glen Charles. Visitation will be at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church, 2121 N. Sherwood Forest Blvd., Baton Rouge, on Tuesday, June 2, from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial, followed by inurnment at Port Hudson National Cemetery with Military Honors.
