Joseph Koger "Jack" HopKins III was born in Baton Rouge on June 7, 1926, and died at St. Clare Manor on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bettie Louise Thomas HopKins and Joseph Koger HopKins. He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances McKoy HopKins; his daughter, Kent HopKins; and his son, Joseph Koger HopKins IV. Jack was a lifetime member of St. James Episcopal Church. Always an avid outdoorsman, he participated in the Baton Rouge Audubon Society and the Sierra Club. For decades he was active in the Boy Scouts as an adult leader, enjoying regular camping trips and training programs. Visiting at St. James Episcopal Church on Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 9 a.m. until burial service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. James Episcopal Church or the charity of one's choice.
