Joseph Leo Hughes, Jr. a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Holden, LA., passed away on St. Patrick’s Day at the age of 78. Joe was born in New Orleans on November 27, 1938. He graduated from Istrouma High School in 1956, and was a retired Electrician from IBEW Local 995. He was an avid fan of the LSU Tigers and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Leo Hughes, Sr. and Cecelia Wiemers Hughes. Joe is survived by his son, Joseph Leo Hughes, III of Holden, LA; a daughter, Jan Hughes Grenfell; granddaughter Stephania Grenfell and grandson Jordan Grenfell; sister, Janet Delgehausen and husband Loren; a brother Ronald Hughes and his wife Carol, all of Baton Rouge, and nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation which will be held at Greenoaks Memorial Park Mausoleum on Monday, March 20, 2017 from 10 am until service begins at 11 am. Entombment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Childrens' Research Hospital or your favorite charity.
