Sgt. 1st Class Joseph Mumphrey, a resident of Denham Springs, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007, at his home. He was 76 and a retired U.S. Army veteran with 21 years of service. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Thursday, Feb. 8, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with recitation of rosary at 7 p.m. Visiting at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Denham Springs, on Friday, Feb. 9, after 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at noon, with the Rev. Vincent Dufresne, celebrant. Interment inGreenoaksMemorial Park. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Faye Achee Mumphrey; sons, Wayne, Craig and Jeffery Mumphrey; daughters, Geralyn Dean, Lolette Welch, Colette Bals, Serena Chaboude and Rachel Lowe; 18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, John Mumphrey; and sisters, Louise Waller and Lillie Phillips. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Mumphrey; mother, Katrina LaBello Mumphrey; brother, Benedict Mumphrey; and sister, Camille Wilson.
