Joseph Darryl Juge, known mostly by the nickname BeBe, He was born on March 19, 1948, in Baton Rouge, LA. He was the oldest of seven children born to Joseph A. (Tony) Juge and Maude Leduff Juge. BeBe took his last breath on Sunday July 7th 2024 at his daughter’s home, enveloped by the warmth and love of his children, Ericka and Darryl, and two sisters, Claudette and Denise. His peaceful transition with family support was a testament to the strong familial bonds he cherished throughout his life.
BeBe attended elementary school at St. Francis Xavier and later graduated from McKinley High School in 1967. Following high school, he worked in the family business with his father, learning and mastering the skill of carpentry. He also worked for Dupree Construction for over 30 years until he retired. His hands crafted not just wood but memories and legacies, building more than just structures but also a life of simplicity and love. He was a man who found joy in the everyday moments, cherishing the time spent with his family above all else.
An exceptional man, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Bebe enjoyed the simple things of life. He was known to drive his truck around South Baton Rouge to catch up with friends and watch the community's growth. One of his favorite stops was Personal Touch, where he joined a special set of cousins and friends in laughter and sharing memories.
In 2023, BeBe faced the toughest battle of his life when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Throughout his courageous fight, he was surrounded by the unwavering love and support of his children, Ericka and Darryl. Their dedication ensured that BeBe's final year was filled with care, compassion, and dignity.
He was preceded in death by his parents by his parents, Joseph A. (Tony) Juge and Maude Leduff Juge. His brothers, Anthony Juge, Michael Juge, and Charles (Rick) Juge. His sister, Cynthia Lee. Brother in Laws, John Lee, Eugene Brown Sr., and Donald Johnson. He is survived by his special friend, Bessie Roberts, who loved and cared for him for over 35 years. A son, Darryl Juge, and a daughter, Ericka Sterling (Chris), and two sisters, Claudette “Tee” Johnson, and Denise Brown. One grandchild, John “JC” Sterling, a godchild, Gwen Marchand-McClain and two sister in law's, Lori Juge and Joyce Juge. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will cherish his memory.
BB's legacy is one of humility, hard work, and deep familial love. His memory will forever be a guiding light for his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he has departed from this world, his spirit remains in the hearts of those who loved him.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2250 Main St., Baton Rouge, LA 70802 on Friday July 12th, 2024 at 11:30 am. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am. Burial will immediately follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
