Joseph "Sonny" Landwehr Jr.

Joseph R. Landwehr, Jr. was called home on December 15, 2023. He was 90 years old. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ann Paysse and Joseph R. Landwehr, Sr. and his wife of 52 years, Janet Wegener Landwehr.

He was a Civil Engineer, working in the construction industry.

He and his wife lived in New Orleans until Hurricane Katrina when they moved to Baton Rouge. They attended Our Savior Lutheran Church in New Orleans, where his wife was the principal of the grammar school. Together they were counselors for the church youth group. They directed the youth group in a Musical Play every summer. Joe also was the coach of the youth athletic teams which participated in the New Orleans Lutheran Athletic League. For many years he was chairman of the committee that presented the annual Easter Sunrise Service on the shore of Lake Pontchartrain. After moving to Baton Rouge, Joe and Jan were members of Trinity Lutheran Church.

A visitation will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023 from 1pm - 2pm with a funeral service to begin at 2pm at Greenoaks Funeral Home. 9595 Florida Blvd. Baton Rouge, LA 70815. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
